My apologies for not putting the homework on the blog last week.
This week, the children will receive their new reading books on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Some have received a new list of sight vocabulary words in their homework jotters too. If they can practise these words until they have instant recall.
The children have received their new spelling lists:-
Group 1 – lip, log, let, leg, slip, flat
Group 2 – boat, coat, coal, foal, float, groan
Group 3 – jaw, draw, hawk, crawl, awful, saw
In Numeracy, we are looking at addition within 5, 10 and beyond. Use any opportunities at home to encourage your child to add two or more numbers together:- 3 knives and 3 forks. How many altogether?
We have looked at the commutative rule which shows that 3 + 4 = 7 so 4 + 3 = 7. We are also practising quicker recall of our doubles, from
1 + 1 =2 up to 10 + 10 = 20
As usual, our PE will be on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so I would appreciate all children having their PE kit each day. We will continue practising our throwing and catching skills, and also begin learning some social dancing. Using music for a Scottish jig, the children can practise keeping the beat by clapping, tapping their feet or moving in time to the music.
You will maybe have heard the exciting news, that all the classes from P2 to P4 are putting on our annual show, so over the next few weeks we will be busy learning lots of lyrics for songs etc. Look out for more information and possible requests for props and costumes later.
Primary 1 are organising some activities for us for Children in Need day on Friday. Keep checking the main blog for more details.
